HomePod Speaker

Did we really need this?

Apples new HomePod speaker systems I will reserve judgement on but it looks like these devices really need to focus on better universal support. I currently have two DTS PlayFi devices hooked up to my iMac and would enjoy decent Airplay support.

Obviously comparisons to the various Amazon and Google Home Speaker products come up. However I think with it's in house technology and Apple's odd obsession with the music business it will be a very successful product. It does seem to lack a mid-range speaker. Hmm, and price $349.00 it's what I will call an impulse buy product for Apple.

Airplay2 

One of the big announcements at the keynote for WWDC 2017 today was Airplay 2. It will interesting to see what apple has planned for improving multi-room audio as in my area most of the WiFi bands are saturated with people streaming video and performance is poor.
